Well, sort of, more like a nice little privacy addition. When I installed my WordPress site I unchecked ‘Allow my blog to appear in search engines’ option. I did this because I wanted my blog to be out there while I was setting it up and getting everything in place. However when I was all setup I obviously want to recheck that option so I can start to build up my search ranking. In previous versions of WordPress I would have had to remember that I had unchecked this box and remember to check it when I went live. However WordPress 3.0 has a little link that is incredibly useful!
Introducing the privacy link
This little link consisting of only 10 characters acts as a smart little reminder that your blog is not currently visible to the likes of Google. When selected it conveniently takes you to the privacy settings page. Again, making things that little bit easier for you.
On the privacy page you’ll be presented with two options.
Go ahead and select the top option to make your site visible to everyone including search engines. Save these changes and you’re ready to go. You get a nice little confirmation message so you know that the settings have been saved.
You should notice that the little privacy link reminder has now disappeared from the admin header. If you need to change the settings again, you’ll find them under Settings > Privacy.
